As more and more websites come onto the web, the single best way to determine quality is brand.

The only definitive correlation I see in rankings and this update is the effect of branding and inbound links to brands.

Most brands have:

- A higher value proposition
- Well written content
- Social and community stickiness
- Signals which support a logical company
- Naturally built inbound links

My opinion is that the unnatural links campaign Google sent out starting late last year was done for feedback and data and that the point of all of this is to eventually weed out generic websites that are not brands.

social bookmarking
article writing
blog comment
forum posting
profile creation
directors submission
They all help to increase your web site back links.

With directory listing should be directed on 500 – 1000 directories as not being in the list of all directories to submit. You should not have all Directories at the same time make it through over time and also avoid automatic submission tools such as search engines see this as a scam.

Submit to high profile directories, many cost $$$. Trade links with high PR sites relevant to your subject matter. Posting on forums and blogs such as this also is very good. If you can write article about your subject matter and submit to sites such as eHow ‘how-to’ sites it works very well. Maintain and post regularly on a blog that is integrated with your website, this can get many people to link to you if you have quality content that is not advertorial. Using social media is also a great way to get your blog and site seen though the links are usually nofollow, still gets people to see your stuff. Post on others facebook/twitter/g+ pages where you can. In all instances, maintain link etiquette so as not too seem a ‘spammer.’ This can hurt your reputation and cause you to lose many quality links!

You have to ask your customer for reviews. We started asking for reviews last November and have now close to 1000 reviews, all positive. Without bribing our customers or offering coupons or vouchers.

Rotating survey pixels are a great way to get more reviews and reviews from multiple sources. You can rotate the display of a pixel from Shopping.com, Shopzilla, and Nextag with relative ease via Javascript, and display one at the end of each shopper’s purchase.

Those three sources all sync up with Google Shopping seller reviews as well.

The tricky part ist to choose the right review system and to pick the right moment to ask for a review. We choose a review website, where the customer does not have to sign up for an account and has to confirm his review by email and leave the order number, so we can confirm if it is genuine.

The right moment to ask for a review in my opinion is the day of delivery. We use the API of our parcel service and a script automatically checks if the parcel has been delivered and then we send out the email and ask for a review.

We want to ask for a review when the customer is still happy that he has received his parcel. If you wait to long he might already have forgotten his order or he might regret having ordered the product in the meantime and then take his disatisfaction out on you. After all you want the customer to review your website and services and not the product.

You should also not forget to ask the customer if everything was ok and direct him to your customer service if something is wrong with the order. Before you point to the review website in your email.

Or else many will use the review system instead of your customer service when they have complaints. This is something I have seen many times.

I order something, get an email asking for an review – with a noreply email address and not a single link to customer service. Now – when something is wrong where does the unhappy customer click? On the only link available – the one to the review website. You don’t want that to happen.

We phrase it something like this:
If something was wrong with your order or you have any further questions about your order please click here: “Link to contact form”

If everything was fine and you are satisfied with our services we would be happy if you recommended our website on “review website: “Link to review website”.

By carefully phrasing the email you can direct the unhappy customers to your customer service and only the happy customers to the review website.

If you own your own ecommerce store its very important that your product descriptions are unique. If you can make the product names unique as well even better. If the products you’re selling have a manufacturer description thats on 100 other ecommerce sites you will never stand out.

Make everything as unique as you can.

I own many ecommerce sites and I follow a very strict guideline when publishing them, the first is to make sure all of my descriptions are 100% original. If you dont want to take my advice, you can keep waiting until google thinkgs you’re as big as amazon, sears and walmart, just dont hold your breath because you will be waiting a very long time.

Remember large sites like sears get away with more than others because of there big brand power.

Besides listing products, what other tools does your website offer potential customers? I’ve got no idea what sector you’re in, so these might not be appropriate, but:

- calculators
- How-to guide
- Product selectors
- Industry news
- Professional reviews (e.g. industry magazines)
- Social (blogger) reviews
- User (YOUR user) reviews

better service, free shipping, cheaper prices, faster shipping, no sales tax for out of state etc etc. They are more places than just #1 in SERPS

Reading levels: If you go to “Advanced search”, you can filter SERPS by “reading level”. Now I think it would make sense AND be easy to connect “search phrases” and “surfer sastisfaction” (are they coming back to Google) to the “reading level” i have assigned to an URL

- Bad templates: Too many pages using one single template (WordPress like) could cause GBot nausea. Just a hunch here, but could not hurt to diversify: if(template code > 30% of page) then rank=rank-1

- Internal links devalued, only external really count

- Thin pages cause substantial bigger problems for a domain

- Duplicate content snippets on your page cause substantial bigger problems

- Too many external named links “widget keyword” instead of “more…” (eg) cause penalties

- missing positive reviews from the usual review sites count as a minus

- the (low) quality of a link destination could backfire on the quality score of the link source

- missing certificates/page seals of organizations (BBB maybe?) could give a missing signal

- user behaviour (satisfaction) on-page (measured by plug-ins or analytics you have on the pages) could give a quality signal

- Content above the fold: implying that G renders the page and estimates the content quality early shown

- Text blocks with an (ancient) date of publication could catch a devaluation

- Spelling and grammar: errors might get you sacked

Quick Info:
• My Keyword related with household item
• I have around 30 web pages
• I design my web page; I don’t use blog or word press …. All custom designed.
• Target US

——————————–
• I don’t have too many traffic
• My web pages are not perfect just simple sites
• I use little info for each page
• I don’t update or my web pages
• I don’t use high paying keywords

KING is: Google search top 3 place
KING is: LOCAL SEARCH KEYWORDS (Your Keyword + Place)

——————————–

I am using extremely low competition keywords. Like People searching 5-10 time a month, but If you think 52 states + 1000… Cities, you will get lots of user.

Keyword + Local place, that’s the key.

But you have to find third degree keyword that means no one used before, that time Google rank will be really good.

—————————
Building web pages for high paying keywords or info, just spending time for nothing.

I use LOCAL Search with low competition keywords. People are LOOKING FOR PLACE for that items, I just giving them options to choose. Like Google

I use very simple layout like Google.

I use 2 colors all text are BLACK only links like adsense Blue like Google.

I don’t give them too many info, They are looking for a place I show them 8 places ( 2 adsense unit only)

That’s all. Simple like Google.

———————————–
BE simple always LIKE GOOGLE

Do not create fancy fully loaded web pages.

We don’t want to make people happy & informed about what they found. We have to create a web page like a bridge. Your visitors will STOP and GO. They have to click AD’s

If you give them too much info they don’t need to click your ads.

USE ONLY BLACK & BLUE COLORS. All text must be black, only your title & AD’s will be blue.

USE WHITE BACKGROUND like Google makes it simple.

USE BIGGER TITLE and BIGGER AD Font Size.

USE Small size text for all other info.

They must SEE FIRST your title > Your Ads, they don’t need to see any other infos.

WORK like secondary Google search.

BE simple.

—————————
PAGE LAYOUT
White background, NO photo, NO image, NO buttons, clean site.
—————————–

1) You said “I have around 30 web pages”. **********YES

Do you mean each page has similar template, **********YES

just local place name different/ or different selling item range, **********YES

in this case all pages are almost same look? **********YES

do you acturally selling any householder item on your site? **********NO But I do My Own Affiliate systems, thats make 15.000 montly

2)”KING is: Google search top 3 place”. What does it mean top 3 place? do you list many local place names? **********YES: When you search local terms if you listed first 3 listing You will get more visitor.

Do you add google search box? **********NO

———————

Have you targeted only generic keywords or long tail keywords ?
Yes I use long tail keyword.

XXXXX XXXXX is my main kwyword.

My page titles like these

Cheap XXXX XXXX Place
BBBB XXXX XXXX Showroom Place

These types of long tail keyword searches are really rare, but if they search you will have them.

My local listing pages around 3000 pages. I only change title, keyword, Meta tags, H1 H2 H3 headings for each long tail keyword.

———————-

My Main Money making web sites is around 2500 pages.

Second one close to 1000, others just 10 – 30 pages.

Local pages making big money that reasons I have too many pages. Because I have to create EACH TITLE, so many places that means so many pages.

I am building more and more pages, I am checking all local info’s coming from analytics, if I fount good keywords. I create one more local page site.

————————

Do you only fucus on one type of product, then each page for different place name? Is your domain name related to your search item? do you list all diffrent place/city name links on each page?
I have knowledge about one product, I know everything about it, that reason I am using that keyword.

I am always tracking, Analytics. I am trying to find NICE KEYWORD + LOCAL TERMS.

If I see good one, I create one more web page.

Sometimes, if I search that keyword, I see 4-5 listing on Google first page and all of them my web pages.

XXXXXX is my main keyword, but I have lots of secondary keyword, reason why I am using secondary keyword is, they are easy to rank. Because I don’t do SEO.

BBBBB is my secondary keyword. I buy a domain about that keyword. Then I start building web pages. I use ALL possibilities. I am searching BBBBB keywords on Google, I am also looking more search result under Google page. Which related keywords Google showing me.

I am making a list.
GGGGG BBBBB
KKKKK BBBBB
LLLLL BBBBB

My list around 8-10 keyword possibilities. When I found all keywords I start Building local terms.
GGGGG BBBBB x 200 Local Place Name = 200 Pages
KKKKK BBBBB x 200 Local Place Name = 200 Pages
LLLLL BBBBB x 200 Local Place Name = 200 Pages

No I have 600 pages.

====== I use one page template for each keyword terms. X 200 Place I only change their TITLE…

When I finish I will have 2000 pages web site.

I spend like 1-2 days to build it.

I don’t do SEO, reason I am finding low compotation keywords. Google did not list any other sites before that reason Google lists my pages quickly.

Search VALUE is really low, like 2 search each money for each keyword, but if you create 2000 pages x 2 search = you will get 4000 visitors a month.

————————

Very nice. You forgot content is king!?
NO I don’t believe that, Pf course content is really important, but I don’t really have content about my keywords. They are low competition keyword, no body wrote anything about them. But people searching them.

I am playing with exact search terms; at that case you don’t need more content.
—————
where you put links of 200 local place names? all on index or?
How google is reacting at 200 pages with only local name changed?
First page SHOW, 8-10 Keyword Possibilities
Second Page Shows, only State Names

Third Page show Keyword + Local Pages

———-

Just a little question about finding those hard keywords…
Do you just try long keywords in the browser to get results? Or any keyword tool is used for the job?

I have only ONE Keyword, for my sites, all others just a variations of that keyword.

LIKE; I start with “CAR” > Then I use, Cheap cars, Cheap Tires, Salvage Engine ……….. I found more keywords about main keywords.

How I do search, I always looking LOCAL SEARCH VALUE.

LIKE: My keyword is, WINDOW…….

I can’t use WINDOW keywords, or WINDOW place in New York, or WINDOW showroom Texas.

Because MOST of the Keywords already RANKED like, there are lots of LOCAL SEARCH site Yoodle, Yelp……

I use like these, Replacement Windows Texas

I use Google keyword tool and I search

Replacement Windows Texas
Replacement Windows Florida
Replacement Windows New York
Replacement Windows Canada
Replacement Windows London

If I see any result like 10-15 search a month, that means it is good keyword. I am not looking 1000- 2000 searches.

Because if 10 people searching this keywords in London, that means 10 people will search this keyword in newyork.

You will have 52 sates & 2000+ cities. You will have lots of visitors.

These type keywords are good, because LOCAL search sites not using them. You will have lots of change to get ranked quickly.

FINDING good keywords is NOT easy. I have 150+ domains; I am using only 30 of them.
——————–
