If you are going to make a website for Germany then it’s better to host your site in German server and if you are going to target Us then Us server will do great work for your SERP in google. Google always supports local websites. So, while searching websites it highly recommend to the same location from where the query is given.
and i think for the same reason google established more than 80 data centre around the world.
